Slow living and mindful living have attracted me for a long time. As someone who has always operated at turbo speed, I began fantasizing about a slower, more intentional life when I was a young mother. Perhaps this is also why I have also been attracted to Feng Shui,
Less clutter in my space and life, and more harmony.
For most of my life, I've lived in a constant state of having 100 things going on at once. Yet I've always admired people and cultures that truly appreciate life by living mindfully and at a slower pace.
When visiting France, I noticed people taking their time to eat, drink, walk, and have conversations. People sitting in parks reading a book. Others enjoying a cup of coffee at a sidewalk café without looking at a phone.
I'm not talking about avoiding responsibilities or failing to complete projects. I'm talking about learning to say no, using discernment about what deserves our energy, and creating space for what truly matters.
Less rushing, fewer appointments, and more presence.
There is a reason so many women today carry high levels of stress. We live in a culture that celebrates busyness and productivity, often at the expense of our well-being. Anxiety, depression, burnout, and chronic tension have become increasingly common.
I know I have carried stress in my body, mind, and emotions for as long as I can remember.
Perhaps even before I was born. I am certainly not alone. Many people carry accumulated tension that shows up in different ways throughout their lives.
This past weekend, I made a decision: I am beginning a 90-day slow living journey. My target date is September 12th.
It's easy to embrace a slower pace during summer vacations and long, sunny days. But I want to learn how to live this way consistently—not as a temporary escape, but as a lifestyle.
For the next 90 days, I will practice slowing down, being present, and making choices that support peace rather than pressure. My goal is to continue until these practice becomes a habit.
If you've been craving a little more space, a little more calm, and a little more joy in your everyday life and in your living space, I hope you'll join me.
Warmly
Sherry E.
