Aesthetic and Merchandising

We are in dynamic times and things are changing fast. As an owner of a business it's important to change & revolutionize how you approach your work and to find new strategies to help you evolve.

The First Step

I am going to give you a few areas to think about and I would like you to rate each category.

Using a scale of 1-5 ( 1 in desperate help to 5 being perfect) .

  • The Aesthetic and Merchandising of your Website and or brick and mortar.

  • Employees: their knowledge, interest and their manners in relation to the business.

  • Customer Service: Professional, friendly, consistent, follow up with clients and vendors, feedback from clients in person and on YELP and Google.

There is a saying "it takes one unhappy customer and they will tell 10 of their friends and those people will 10 people and so on."

  • Product & Service Pricing ( I have another post that describes in detail how to do your pricing).

  • Selection of products & services.

  • Hours of operation.

  • Dress Code.

  • How you as the owner feel about your business: Are you burned out or do you truly enjoy what you do?

  • Marketing.

  • Advertising.

Did any of the scores surprise you? While a business needs more than what I have listed, these are great areas to think about and notice how they impact your overall work.

Next Steps

Figure out which area motivates you first and start taking small steps to grow that area.

For example you may notice that your YELP and or Google ratings are not above average. Take time to read them and respond to the person that wrote them. In most cases people don't feel comfortable giving feedback directly to the person they interacted with and they leave a review instead. This can be a great opportunity for growth and even strategizing new ways to roll out new trainings. It show other perspective customers that you took the time to respond and took ownership of the situation.

To get more new perspectives and fresh ideas I recommend taking workshops for business owners.

Hiring a Business Coach.

Starting or joining a mastermind class.

It can be scary to question yourself on your mindset or how you envisioned your business. However just having the willingness to make some changes can help improve your business and have lasting positive effects.
