Does it look & feel good?
Does it look & feel good?

How many times have you walked in to a business and it felt chaotic?

A lot of times the ambiance of an establishment can feel over whelming resulting in people not wanting to shop, dine, workout or get a hair cut. Add in employees who either get in to your space or completely ignore you.

The ambience of an establishment can entail the following but perhaps more: the music being played, noise level, smell ( yes the scents), colors, lighting, and merchandising. The way items are organized or not.

How can a business create a better environment?

Here are a few ideas:

  • Start with the windows and doors- making sure they are clean and free of finger prints.

  • The door can be closed as long as there is a sign that Welcomes.

  • Music that is appropriate for all ages.

  • Allowing there to be a clean smell, opening windows and perhaps burning a citrus candle and live plants are a few ways to ensure the good clean smell and energy. Staying away from the smell of harsh chemicals. Or if a consignment store making sure all items are washed and cleaned prior to putting out.

  • Categorizing how you put your products out: less is more, color blocking, sizing and using props are all good ways to allow the customer to see and find something.

While there are other factors that ensure a business' success; how the ambiance of the establishment feels is essential for customers to feel comfortable while shopping.
